Sure it's a hotspot for the Über Hip of Mission Dolores, and often packed, but I love this sprawling city park. It's an amazing--and free, place to enjoy a sunny afternoon, drinking some beers with friends and watching the cute dogs mess with each other. Higher up on the hill is a great view of a beautiful city. Avoid the crowd on weekday afternoons, when the less lucky are stuck indoors.

Adding white tablecloths to an otherwise no frills bar has all the potential in the world to look reaaal tacky. But in the Lone Palm they make all the difference. This dimly lit spot maintains the moderate prices and laid-back vibe of any Mission bar, but has the added bonus of ample seating space in a lounge atmosphere. They even provide free peanuts (sometimes Sunchips!!!) in glass bowls on tables. Sold.
