Across from the mall you can't miss the huge guitar decorating Retrovisor, which is important cause Costa Ricans don't like addresses. But they do seem to like British and American rock in Retrovisor, with shrines of memorabilia from bands like Pink Floyd and Los RHCP (that's the red hot chili peppers, you non-ticos.)
One room overlooks the street with stools and tables, another has comfier couch/table group settings perfect for drinking games (the tables are glass so cuidate, not that I've ever broken one). On the bumpin nights- generally weekends- the third room is put to use with a generous dance floor and music to satisfy any dance enthusiast. If all three of these drink, drink, and dance rooms don't appeal to you, there's a pool bar downstairs that serves mugs of cheap birra. Go for the local faves-Imperial or Pilsen- and look like a local.

Every Sunday in summer there are free concerts, some of which are cool, others that don't have much appeal... besides being FREE. And if you need somewhere to go chill when it's nice out, there are trails for walks and secluded woody areas, too! Even the stage is fine to meet up on considering you can't see it form the road, and are engaging in innocent pastimes. In the winter you can go sledding down the huge hill, and at night (I recommend in a convertible) go through the ridiculously obnoxious Christmas lights for whatever you'd like to donate. Oh, and disregard the lone alcohol prohibited sign.
