Cheese Curds! »

5.0 Stars

As a Canadian ex-pat, I constantly yearn for the food of my mother country: poutine. To the uninitiated, it is fries, cheese and gravy. But to those in the know, it's hand cut fries, cheese curds, and brown (beef/mushroom) gravy.
And so, I wandered around LA looking for these squeaky nuggets of cheese. And my journey ended at the Cheese Store. And then we made poutine and we lived happily ever after. The end.

They also have some other random/rare imports too.

My body may be lactose-intolerant, but my taste buds aren't. If you love cheese, then this is your Mecca. Welcome home, brothers and sisters. This place has hundreds of varieties of cheese from all over the world and customers are welcome to sample any and all of them. Try the Cotswold. Or the San Simon. Ooohh, or the Chimay. God, I'm hungry.

This place is tucked back between Intelligentsia Coffee and Cafe Stella. It has a great European vibe to it. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and every bit as in love with cheese as the customers. They also serve a great variety of wines, condiments and freshly-made sandwiches.
