I have a compulsive desire to eat at every falafal joint in NY. As soon as I see a new middle east restaurant, the part of my brain that craves deep-fried crush chickpeas and vegetables starts me salivating and next thing you know I'm in there dropping up to $4 on what usually ends up being a disappointing attempt to re-live enjoyable middle east eating experiences in America. Note to all middle eastern restaurants in NY, San Fran, and everywhere in between: keep it simple, stupid. Falafal is the poor man's food of a poor man's land, and that's the way it should be. Don't fancy them up, it ruins it. The folks at Oasis got it right. $3 a sandwich, and the set up is basically an exact replica of anything you'd see in the M.E. The baklava is pretty good, too.

this is falafel heaven, and at $3/sandwich, you can go to town on those little bursts of deep-fried goodness. I don't care whether you like pickled cabbage or not, just get it - you won't be sorry.
