Just standing outside of the Jéronimos Monastery is awe-inspiring. The gleaming white stone is more beautifully carved than the exterior of any gothic church I've seen, and the interior is equally breathtaking. If I could pick any tomb to be buried in, I would gladly switch places with Vasco da Gama (who is buried inside the monastic church).
