Hipster Park »

This is definitely where people dress up, go to be seen and get wasted. Many people bring their own alcohol and drink. No one bothers you if this is what you do, but be respectful of course! Some families have their birthday parties here, people smoke weed, and there will be bikes and dogs aplenty strewn on the grass. The park has beautiful views and decent food down 18th.

I personally am not a huge fan of Dolores, but I can see why people love it. I am adverse to the outdoors to begin with, so I have a bias. It's relatively clean, there's good people watching, and you can drink openly.

i did not know thc could be consumed in so many ways. yet the vendors that happen by your spot on the grass opened my eyes. cookies, truffles, peanut brittle, and of course grass. all personally delivered - we didn't have to move at all.
it's where dreams come true.

Relax and Suntan »

This is the best park to relax in, although it can get crowded in the summer with sunbathers. It's got a good view of the city if the weather is good and I've had a blast at every free event in this park. The people that come here are usually local and the spot is relaxed.

One of my faves »

My friends and I love just to hang out in Dolores park, eat some ice cream or sandwiches from somewhere close by. On a nice day there's nothing better. Plus there is always stuff going on and lots to see. Dolores park is relaxing, but never boring.

Yep. Check it out: http://missionmission.wordpress.com/2009/06/21/dolores-park-frog-pond/

I always have a good time here.

Oh, and check the schedule in the summer for movie nights. Last Saturday it was Goldfinger. Very fun to watch with a hundred or so of my closest friends.

In this neighborhood where the wonders and flaws of capitalism and the American way live side by side, where you find the snobbiest of coffee shops a block away from the most humble check cashing stores, it's hard to find a place that's open to everyone, that's welcoming to everyone, and that's used by everyone. Dolores Park is one of those places. You see Mexican families having picnics, yuppies and hipsters walking their dogs, kids of all colors in strollers. This is what all of the Mission District should be like.

The view from the top of the hill is amazing. You can see all the skyscrapers of the Financial District in the background, City Hall in the middle, and the tower of Mission High in the foreground. There are lots of wide grassy areas that are perfect for sunbathing or walking dogs. This place could use a few more trees for some shade, but otherwise, it's great.

I have been to this park many times and each time I love it more and more. It is in a gorgeous area and everyone there is cool and laid back. The best thing to do is get some ice cream from Bi-rite (across the street) and take it to Dolores Park with your best friends on a summer day.

Hipster Sunburn »

Sure it's a hotspot for the Über Hip of Mission Dolores, and often packed, but I love this sprawling city park. It's an amazing--and free, place to enjoy a sunny afternoon, drinking some beers with friends and watching the cute dogs mess with each other. Higher up on the hill is a great view of a beautiful city. Avoid the crowd on weekday afternoons, when the less lucky are stuck indoors.
