chichen itza is probably my favorite "mexican" restaurant in LA. however, you'll find a lot on their menu that sounds out of place for a mexican, like turkey, pumpkin, and orange juice dishes. everything i've had here is good, and thoughtful, and new. don't come here if you're looking for chicken enchilada. but do come if you want queso relleno in pumpkin raisin sauce with ground spiced turkey.

an excellent choice for lunch, which i think may be there more busy time. $10 lunch specials get you bomb fish tacos with rice and salad, plus a drink.

dinner for 2 with sangria and coffee can look like $60-70. but the service is great, the menu is fun, and the setting is unpretentiously cute. good for a date, birthday, or meeting.
