I visited their Soho location, which apparently is MUCH Smaller than the one in Shoreditch. It was pretty cool, though. Very colorful and funky with a strong 70s vibe. Prices were reasonable and it's always cool to know you're buying a one-of-a-kind piece. The thing I liked most about it was that it felt more like a high street shop; it didn't have that creepy, you're-probably-buying-a-dead-person's-clothes feeling to it that many vintage stores have. I couldn't find anything that I personally would buy, but that wouldn't stop me from recommending it. Next time, I'm going to the HUGE one...

THE place for other peoples' old clothes. Great dress collection, many hats, and tons of lingerie in good shape. Their website's updated with occasional gigs from bands coming in to play for the afternoon.

There are vintage clothing stores and there are vintage clothing stores. And in the East End, there's certainly no shortage of them. Beyond Retro actually has two London branches, but the Cheshire St one claims to be the city's biggest emporium of second hand fashions. Just a hop, skip and a jump from buzzing Brick Lane, Beyond Retro is crammed full of vintage items ranging from your average cardigan and worn tee to ridiculously fantastic lurid jump suits, feather boas and military uniforms with a twist. It is deservedly popular, the prices shouldn't pose much of a problem to any pocket - and its sheer scale ensures there is definitely something here for you.
